Mission Trips
Each January, Children of the Americas, Inc. sends a volunteer medical/surgical team to work in a different area of Guatemala. The duration of the trip is one week, and generally takes place in the second half of January.
The team works in local public community hospitals, in partnership with hospital administration and staff. Site selection is based on need, hospital size, and feasibility of transportation. All team participants serve on a volunteer basis, and are responsible for airline travel and hotel costs.
Children of the Americas, Inc. provides the following medical/surgical services:
- Obstetric/gynecological surgery
- Pediatric orthopedic surgery
- General surgery
- Family practice medicine
- Dentistry
- Orthotic/prosthetic services
Applications are accepted after August 15 preceding the mission trip. The deadline for submission of applications is October 15.
